PADI Advanced Freediver Course

Pre-requisites:

  • Completed PADI Freediving course or similar. 

  • Valid medical certificate within last 12 months. 

  • A minimum of 15 years old.

  • CPR and First Aid within last 24 months.

Description:

Take your freediving to the next level with the PADI Advanced Freediver course. Improve your breath-hold, dive deeper, and refine your technique with expert guidance. Perfect for freedivers looking to push their limits safely and confidently!

 

Required Equipment:

  • Mask + Snorkel

  • Wetsuit (5mm recommended)

  • Weight belt + weights

  • Fins

  • Dive computer

We provide hire gear if required, or you can purchase directly from us.

Course Outcomes: After successful  completion of the PADI Freediver course with Freedive Geelong, participants will have the knowledge and skills to Freedive to a maximum of 24 metres depth.

Course Objectives: â€‹

The course objectives of the PADI Advanced Freediver course are designed to help students refine and expand their freediving skills, techniques, and safety practices. Key objectives include:

​

  • Improved breath holding abilities: Learn advanced techniques to extend static and dynamic apnoea times, allowing for longer and more comfortable underwater experiences. Introduction of apnoea tables. 

​

  • Increase Depth Proficiency: Safely progress to deeper depths through improved equalization techniques and relaxation strategies.

​

  • Enhance Freediving Techniques: Focus on refining posture, streamlining, and finning techniques for more efficient diving and energy conservation.

​

  • Develop Advanced Safety and Rescue Skills: Learn and practice rescue techniques specific to deeper freediving scenarios to ensure safe diving practices.

​

  • Build Physical and Mental Preparation: Understand advanced physical conditioning and mental relaxation techniques to support deeper dives and longer breath-holds.

​

These objectives focus on refining skills and safety, progressing in depth and breath-hold duration, and fostering a strong foundation in both the physical and mental aspects of freediving.

Performance criteria.

  • Perform a static apnoea attempt of at least 2:30 min. 

  • Dynamic apnoea attempt of at least 50m. 

  • Swim 20m under water with one fin. 

  • Perform rescue of a diver on the surface simulating a black out. 

  • Competently perform a Constant Weight Freedive to at least 20 metres depth.  

  • Demonstrate the rescue of a diver simulating a blackout underwater at 10m depth, including towing the diver 20m on the surface. 

  • Perform buddy role and escort a diver from 10 metres depth to the surface.
