My name is James. I created Freedive Geelong to help people feel calm, capable and at home in the ocean—and to share the underwater world that has shaped my life.

​

My motivation is rooted in the desire to reveal to people the awe-inspiring beauty of the Great Southern Reef, which I consider one of the world's most extraordinary diving destinations. It is a place of sheer magnificence, and if you haven't experienced its underwater wonders, you're truly missing out. Furthermore, I am committed to fostering the growth of freediving in Australia, with a special focus on Victoria, and establishing a close-knit community of skilled, safety-conscious freedivers and spearfishermen.

My Experience: 

​

I've been a lifelong resident of Victoria's Surfcoast, and since a young age, I've been immersed in the ocean. It's become an integral part of who I am. For nearly two decades, I've been engaging in spearfishing, surfing, or freediving along this coastline, often spending my time there weekly, and at times, even daily. As a result, I've developed a deep familiarity with the underwater realm, akin to the bond with an old friend.

• AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety

• Surfing Instructor
