PADI Master Freediver Course

Pre-requisites:

  • Completed PADI Advanced Freediver course or equivalents. 

  • Valid medical certificate within last 12 months. 

  • A minimum of 18 years old.

  • CPR and First Aid within last 24 months.

Description:

For advanced freedivers who want to approach elite freediving levels. You'll learn to bring your static apnea, dynamic apnea, free immersion, and constant weight skills to the next level.

If you're an advanced freediver who wants to learn how to fine-tune your lifestyle and training so that you can approach elite freediving levels, then the PADI Master Freediver course is for you. Through focused sessions, you'll bring your static apnoea, dynamic apnoea, free immersion, and constant weight skills to the next level.

 

Required Equipment:

  • Mask + Snorkel

  • Wetsuit (5mm recommended)

  • Weight belt + weights

  • Fins

  • Dive computer

Course Outcomes: After successful  completion of the PADI Master Freediver course with Freedive Geelong, participants will have the knowledge and skills to Freedive to a maximum of 40 metres depth. 

​

Course Objectives: â€‹

The course outcomes of the PADI Master Freediver course focus on achieving elite levels of freediving performance and safety. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

​

  • Perform Extended Breath-Holds: Achieve a static apnoea time of at least 3 minutes and 30 seconds and a dynamic apnoea distance of 70 meters or more.

​

  • Dive to Greater Depths: Safely reach a depth of 27-40 meters (90-130 feet) with advanced equalization and relaxation techniques.

​

  • Refine Diving Efficiency: Demonstrate advanced posture, finning, and streamlining techniques to maximize efficiency and minimize energy use during dives.

​

  • Master Freediving Physiology and Training: Apply advanced knowledge of the body’s response to breath-hold diving and use specialized training techniques to improve performance.

​

  • Execute Complex Safety and Rescue Procedures: Perform in-depth safety protocols and rescue techniques for deep freediving scenarios.

​

  • Create a Personalized Training Plan: Design and follow a tailored training plan to continue progressing in depth, breath-hold, and overall freediving performance.

​

These outcomes equip students with the expertise to push their freediving limits while maintaining a high standard of safety and technique.

Performance criteria.

  • Perform a static apnoea attempt of at least 3:30 min. 

  • Dynamic apnoea attempt of at least 70m. 

  • Perform at least two correctly executed no fins dynamic apnoea. 

  • Swim 20m under water with one fin. 

  • Competently perform a Constant Weight Freedive to at least 27 metres depth up to a maximum of 40m.

  • Demonstrate the rescue of a diver simulating a blackout underwater at 15m depth, including towing the diver 50m on the surface. 

  • Perform buddy role and escort a diver from 15 metres depth to the surface.
