Course Overview This open-water training session is designed to help divers transition from pool training into confident, controlled freediving in real ocean conditions. Delivered in small groups with experienced instructor supervision, the session focuses on: Safe progression at depth Refined breath-hold and equalisation technique Body position, buoyancy awareness, and controlled descent Calm, supportive buddy safety procedures Whether you're consolidating your freediving foundations or refining open-water skills, this session provides a steady, safety-led learning environment to build confidence and comfort below the surface. Pre-Requisites PADI Basic Freediver Pool qualification (or equivalent) What You'll Learn Under coaching supervision, participants will practice and learn: Equipment setup, water entry, and exit procedures Correct buoyancy weighting techniques Free immersion practice (up to 16 metres maximum depth) Buoyancy checks during free immersion Constant weight freediving progression Ear and mask equalisation techniques, including troubleshooting common challenges Buddy safety protocols — surface and active safety roles Recognition and rescue of a diver in distress Time permitting, participants may also enjoy recreational freediving practice under supervision. Performance Outcomes By the end of the session, students will be able to demonstrate: Proper breathe-up and post-dive recovery procedures Safety communication and hand signalling Streamlined free immersion technique Controlled constant-weight freediving Accurate weighting and buoyancy awareness (positive / neutral / negative buoyancy states) Buddy safety procedures as both surface and active safety diver Recognition of diver distress and rescue at 5 metres depth
